On 23rd July 2016, a four-strong team from Listers Boston embarked on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
They took on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, which form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. They completed the 26 mile walk in 12 hours and includes 5,200ft (1,585m) of ascent.
Jamie Davenport, Macmillan fundraising manager for Lincolnshire, said “Macmillan nurses provide vital care all across Lincolnshire. Our aim is to ensure no-one faces cancer alone and we have professionals working in hospitals and local communities all across the county. We rely solely on fundraising to fund our services, which is why it is so important that local people continue to support Macmillan. Thank you to Listers for their dedication and commitment to this challenge, I’m sure customers, friends and family will back them all the way and help to raise a huge amount of money to support people affected by cancer.”
Steve Marshall, Sales Manager at Listers MINI in Boston, said “We’re delighted to be able to help raise money for such a fantastic cause, especially as Macmillan provides vital care in our local area. The great work they do will give us the necessary motivation to complete our challenge.”
At the time of going to press, the team had raised over £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
